No no, this isn't the blog of a disgruntled postal worker! (Well it might be shortly) In fact it is I (Hayla) and the other I (Issi), aka us or HI...and this the birth of an idea! Ding ding! Congratulations! It's a project!
The PO Box Project was in fact conceived several months ago in The Foundry (an East London meeting place for artists, writers, poets, free thinkers, captive thinkers, general enthusiasts, misanthropists, and everyone else...a forum and exhibition space for those inclined to generate such things that need a forum, and/or exhibition space). Cast from the metal of Hayla E R Abraham's and Isabel Napier Wilson's minds!
SO WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?!? I HEAR YOU CRY!
A CONVERSATION, COMMUNITY, COMPOSITION. An EXPERIMENT!
We (HI) invite you, whoever you may be, to ask questions, answer questions, draw, write, record, compose around topics/concepts which you deem "underdiscussed" in society, whether that be on a local or global scale. ANYTHING you desire to be liberated from the realms of social silence, will prove food for thought, and therefore POST FOR OUR BOX!!! Yes it is called The PO Box Project because that is where all your musings will accumulate.
...then a resounding...AND WHAT WILL BECOME OF OUR SNAIL DRIVEN MAIL? A very astute bunch you are!
Well Issi and I always intended to generate original pieces of art and bring this unquantified beast full circle by exhibiting our creations in the space available at (yes you've guessed it!) The Foundry...
As this project was proposed as a way to "start a conversation" we feel the above process alone will not satisfy our intentions.
Once the project has begun to generate a response and has done some unfolding we will invite participants to join us in an online network (a happy consequence of providing us with your email info) so we can keep you up to date.
HI are also proposing (to each other at the moment) that workshops and meetings for participants can be arranged in the future for ACTUAL face to face brain jams!!!
We're looking forward to receiving your mail...keep us posted! And we'll keep you posted! More soon!
